Optoelectronic

Electro-optics is an interdisciplinary branch of electronics engineering, materials science, and physics involving devices (e.g., LEDs, active filters, shutters) and systems that operate by the propagation of light and interaction between light and mediums. Electro-optic devices can be designed to modulate various light wave properties, including phase, polarization, amplitude, frequency, and even its direction of propagation. In this lab, we mostly focus on electro-optic devices based on liquid crystals. At the moment, there are active projects in various fields such as:
• Smart windows
• Switchable filters
• Tunable lenses
• Wave-front sensors
• Electro-optic modeling of liquid crystals
• Sonoluminescence
• Light intensity filters
