Sensors are devices that convert various types of energies to data that can be studied and analyzed. Nowadays, sensors are used everywhere and our daily life is strongly related to them. Cars, public transportation, mobile phones, computers and other electronics, medical devices are all dependent on sensors.
In this lab, we work on optical sensors based on liquid crystals, which use liquid crystal’s birefringence to sense and measure events and changes like gas sensors, air-flow meters and bio sensors.
